Terms and conditions

 

Who qualifies to apply?

• The submission is open to all creators to whom the creative rights belong (hereunder: “the participant” or “the applicant”).

• Creators under the age of 18 are also allowed to participate, subject to their parents' written approval, as will be detailed below later in these regulations.

Conditions for creation submitted 

​

• The content of the work must correspond with the exhibition theme: survival, hope and heroism during World War II.

• The reference to the theme does not have to be the center of the work, and can be indirect/critical/implied/abstract/glorifying/historical/personal or any other variation the writer/creator sees fit. However, a work without any reference whatsoever to the theme - will be disqualified. 

• The work may contain: text (poem or short story up to 300 words), photography, illustration, video, or sound. 

• Works containing video/sound will not be over 2 minutes long.

•  The work must be from the past five years.

• The submitted work will be done in a way as to not offend the public sentiment, there will be no political messages within it, and it will not aim to harm or offend any crowds and sectors of the population within or without the country. A proposal which will not abide by the aforementioned, will be disqualified. 

• Any participant in the competition hereby gives consent to publish their work or part of the work, name and picture, online and on the local/global media, newspaper, television, advertisements, exhibitions, etc, as the organizer of the competition sees fit.

• Within the competition application form, the applicant is required to give consent to these terms and conditions on all its clauses.

Submission Guidelines

Fill out the online form and attach the following documents to it:

 

• A file containing the applicant’s artwork, for exhibition purposes, in high resolution format: file of the proposed artwork in a PDF file and in a resolution appropriate for 50/70 centimeters size of print or 100/100 centimeters size of print. Maximum file size 20MB. You may upload up to 3 artworks. You may attach a download link to the submission form. All files must be named after the name of the applicant, for example: TomAdams.

• A profile picture of the applicant, named after the applicant’s name in English, for example: TomAdams.jpg

• A Word file containing the idea behind the proposal (up to 300 words) + text about the applicant (up to 150 words).

• A filled out as required and signed letter of commitment and copyright (download , fill out, sign and upload the letter to the digital form).

 

All files should be saved under your name in English.

The files can only be uploaded once, so please make sure to complete all information. 

The applicants will file their proposal via the digital form until November 10th 2023 Midnight Israel GMT. 
 

Process of selection

The works will be reviewed by a committee, and selected according to an artistic decision by the members of the committee, by its exclusive judgment, in accordance with these terms and conditions, and with no need to explain its decision.

 

Stage 1

Checking if the proposals are complete as required. A proposal lacking and/or not reaching the requirements and the terms and conditions will be disqualified, and will not move on to the next stage. After the completion of the first stage the proposals will be examined by a judging team assembled from a committee selected by the competition organizers. The team will consist of experts from the fields of the arts, media and history.

 

Stage 2

Several works will be chosen to be displayed in the exhibition, from the finalists there will be chosen between 2 to 5 exceptional works.

• The proposals will be evaluated according to the following parameters: adapting the piece to the theme, providing personal expression, creativity, authenticity, addressing a variety of audiences, form of expressing the message and level of execution.

• It is noted that the competition organizers do not commit to select exceptional works and do not commit to display the works in the exhibition.

• The decision regarding the winners will be final and none of the participants will have the right to appeal the selection of the winners.

The awards

​

• Prizes for exceptional works: The organizers of the competition reserve the right to grant prizes worth 10,000 ILS to the participant/participants who will be selected by the judging committee. 

• For the avoidance of doubt, it is notified that what is stated in this clause is under the exclusive judgment of the competition organizers and is not binding in any way or form, and if it shall be decided not to grant the award or to grant a lower amount, the participant will have no claim against the competition organizers in  accordance with the content of this clause. 

• At the end of the selection process, during the month of January 2024, the competition organizers are intending, at their discretion, to perform a ceremony or an event in which the selected works for the exhibition shall be announced as well as the exceptional works.  The awards will be granted by The competition organizers.

• The contest organizers reserve their right, at their sole discretion, not to award the prize, subtract and/or add to it and/or offer an alternative prize to the winners.

• The organizers of the competition will not be responsible for the nature of the services and their quality that is the subject of the prize (as long as it is not financial) and the participants hereby waive any claim against the organizers of the competition, in this regard.

• The organizers of the contest will not bear any expense and/or tax and/or payment related to awarding the prize.

• To the extent that any of the participants selected in the competition are not located by the organizers of the competition and/or do not cooperate in the procedure of receiving the prize, the organizers of the competition will be entitled to transfer the prize to one participant who will be announced by them as the winner.

 

General

1. The applicants are forbidden to approach the members of the committee during the selection process to promote their proposals or to discuss with them about the process. 

2. The competition organizers and/or anyone on their behalf will not be held accountable for any claim and/or litigation and/or damage of any kind that might come, if at all, to the participants due to their participation or lack thereof, including due to the display of their proposed work during the exhibition.

3. The competition organizers reserve the right to add or change, in accordance with their judgment, any requirement within these terms and conditions.

4.  In any case where an issue or question or claim arises that is not regulated within the framework of these regulations, it will be brought to a decision before the chairman of the Israel and Holocaust Commemoration Department in the World Zionist Organization who will decide on the issue and his decision will be final

5. A participant may not impersonate another or provide information about him that is not accurate.

6. A participant is not allowed to act contrary to the laws of the State of Israel, and in particular to take an action that would harm the individual's modesty or property rights.

7. This approval constitutes the consent required by the Copyright Law 2017-2017 and the Performers and Broadcasters Copyright Law-1984 (as determined and applicable in this matter).

8. It will be clarified that this consent is not limited in time, however, a participant may request at any time, to request to remove the work from the exhibition and the organizers of the competition undertake to do so within a reasonable time.

9. The organizers of the contest will not be held responsible for works uploaded by a participant in a manner that violates the laws of the State of Israel and/or other countries, and in particular without the certification of photographers and/or in violation of copyright and/or proprietary infringement.

10. In connection with this, it will be clarified that the organizers of the contest make their best efforts to act in accordance with the provisions of the law, including respecting copyrights as well as the prohibition of invasion of privacy.

11. If you have identified in the content uploaded to the competition website that a photograph and/or other work has been used that is not consistent with the above, you are welcome to contact us and ask to cease the use via the email address: theautographers@gmail.com

12. The organizers of the competition will be entitled to shorten and/or extend the period of the competition and/or change the conditions of the competition and/or cancel the competition and/or postpone it all at their discretion. In the event of such a change, the competition organizers will notify, in the same way as the competition was announced.

13. The organizers of the competition will not be held responsible for any damage, direct and/or indirect, of any kind and type that they cause, if they cause, to a participant in the competition, including damages related to malfunctions that may occur during the competition and/or emotional distress to any of the participants. Also, they will not bear any responsibility in the event of cancellation of the competition and/or inability to award the prize as a result of circumstances beyond their control. Likewise, they will not be held responsible for any claim related to a technical failure in transferring files and/or details required by any of the participants.

14. It is clarified and agreed that in all the products, the subject of the competition, as well as the details of the participants, the organizers of the competition will be allowed to make any use they see fit, including their publication on the Internet (including social media sites), this accompanied by the details of the participants, their names and photos, and the participants express their consent to publication and use in advance As stated in the products that will be sent by them and for the interest of minors (under 18) - with the consent of the minor's guardian. It is also agreed that these products will not be returned to any of the participants and they will remain in the hands of the CE.

15. In any case of dispute regarding the subject of the competition, the competent court in Jerusalem alone will have the authority to discuss the said dispute.

16. By participating in the competition, the participants confirm acceptance of all the terms of these regulations.
